by
Jul 21st, 2014

Located less than 20 miles from Denver, the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. is an impressive indoor venue. It also manages to score some spectacular shows.

If you’re a fan of music or dance who lives in the Denver-Boulder-Broomfield region, one or more of the following events scheduled to take place later this summer and fall just might be the perfect evening out.

American Idol LIVE! Tour

The American Idols LIVE! Tour 2014 kicked off on June 24 to rave reviews from fans of the show and its finalists. On Monday, August 11 at 7:30 PM, 12 of the 13 finalists from the most recent season will take to the stage. Join Caleb Johnson, Jena Irene, Alex Preston, and others as they perform renditions of The Guess Who’s “American Woman,” Bastille’s “Pompeii,” Pink’s “Perfect,” Avicii’s “Wake Up,” and other Billboard top hits. Third place contestant Alex Preston will also sing an original piece. The finalist not scheduled to perform is Dexter Roberts, who is out for the rest of the tour due to illness.

Taste It Broomfield

Home to several award-winning restaurants and a highly-rated winery, Broomfield is a food and drink lover’s heaven. At Taste It Broomfield, dozens of local chefs, wine producers, and beer brewers will showcase their latest and greatest culinary creations to thousands of foodies. Tickets are available for 0 online or 0 at the door, and only people aged 21 or older can attend. Taste it Broomfield kicks off at 5 PM on August 20 and is expected to last around three hours.

Dancing with the Broomfield Stars

Returning for its fifth consecutive year, Dancing with the Broomfield Stars has become a fundraising favorite. It has also garnered attention and praise from elsewhere in the Denver area. Belen de Leon of Channel 9 News will MC the event, which features talented individuals from the community who compete in a brilliantly choreographed showcase before judges and a public audience that votes for its favorite star-instructor performing duo through donations. Proceeds from the event go to local non-profits who help members of the community in need. Dancing with the Broomfield Stars is scheduled to start at 7 PM on September 11.

Lorde

New Zealand art pop sensation Lorde, best known for chart-topping hit “Royals” off her certified platinum album “Pure Heroine,” will be the thing to see on September 28 for thousands of die-hard fans in the area. The 17-year-old singer songwriter enjoyed immense success in her first year on the international stage, winning two Grammy awards and becoming the first woman since 1996 to top the U.S. Alternative Songs chart. The show starts at 8 PM, and will feature Canadian electronic/indie pop band Majical Cloudz.

Bastille

Started by British singer-songwriter Dan Smith, the rock band Bastille swept the nation and world with its catchy hit “Pompeii” in early 2013. The success of other tracks on the band’s “Bad Blood” album proved Bastille is not a one-hit wonder. Fans also thoroughly enjoy the band’s covers and mash-up, particularly its “Of the Night’ mash-up and cover of Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop.” Bastille will perform on November 10 at 8 PM.

In addition to hosting concerts and community events throughout the year, the 1stBank Center is home of the Denver Roller Dolls flat-track roller derby team. For more information about their games or any other events held at the venue, visit 1stBankCenter.com.
