Yellow Goat Design Lights up Two AMLI Communities

In a world of distractions, it’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day. But what if your day-to-day was more…extraordinary? It’s this special element of delight that Yellow Goat Design used to create unique fixtures for two of AMLI's most recent multifamily developments in South Florida, AMLI Midtown Miami and AMLI Park West. 

Bringing great lighting to Gatortown

Yellow Goat Design provides bold lighting, screens and sculpture that is statement-making and memorable. They worked with AMLI Senior Development Associate, Matt Thomson to ensure these core values were at the heart of AMLI Midtown Miami. “As a developer, I want pieces that no one else has because that adds to the experience of our prospects, and makes the space more memorable,” said Thomson. 

In the lobby, you’ll find a signature Yellow Goat fixture, the Chrysalis, hanging over a seating area. The ethereal quality of this design is created with frosted, laser-cut acrylic. The more industrial elements of the space including weathered wood and bold metallics provide a contemplative juxtaposition to the piece.

Over the concierge desk in the leasing office is Yellow Goat Design’s Box Breakout, which is a very literal interpretation of the out-of-box design showcased at AMLI Midtown Miami. This piece is built from three mannequins that break free from an illuminated central box. In the hall and elevator bay you’ll also find Halo, Cans, Puddles and 90 Degrees fixtures, which provide space partitioning and wayfinding for guests.

In spaces like the gym and Arcade Room, it’s all about the animals. Inspired the Chicago's Field Museum's soaring recreations of animals both present and past, Thomson chose Yellow Goat’s Whale fixture to provide a similar aesthetic in the fitness space. In the arcade room, graphic wallcoverings reminiscent of Pac-Man provide the backdrop for Yellow Goat’s on-brand light fixture, the Crikey Cardboard Croc. This unique piece is made with cardboard that is layered and sculpted to create a fun and friendly Gator in the spirit of Miami's “Gatortown” moniker. 

In the Alcove Maker's Space, you’ll find cozy alcoves and long tables for arts, crafts and more. This space is intended to be a space for residents to build furniture, work on bikes or just gather for conversation. Yellow Goat Design created a series of illuminated bike wheels that hang from the ceiling and speak to the function of the room, as well as AMLI’s pro-multi modal transportation values.

South Beach Shine

In the lobby of AMLI Midtown Miami's south building, Thomson‘s design focus was an homage to 80s South Beach hotels. The gold pendant (named Salamanca), is now a part of YGD’s in-house "Drawing Board" collection and uses layers of curved metal that have a funky, art deco style and compliments the golden banquettes that surround it. 

Oh Oh Organics

The final Yellow Goat Piece is a show-stopping custom Oh Oh fixture at the AMLI Park West location. The property is set in a more suburban area and the AMLI team sought a less city-like feel for the lobby space. Organic elements such as the moss wall and playful wallcovering make the tri-colored Oh Oh pop. The Oh Oh has both the traditional “O” shape element incorporated into it as well as a series of winged birds that are reflected on the moss wall.
