Grapevine, TX has earned its reputation as the wine capital of North Texas — and honestly, the name alone should tell you why!
The city is home to a walkable Urban Wine Trail along Historic Main Street, where you can hop between tasting rooms without ever needing to get back in your car! It’s a great way to do some quality wine tasting while also visiting local stores, restaurants and music venues, so whether you're new to wine or you already have strong opinions about Tempranillo, there's something here worth checking out!
Texas is the fifth-largest wine-producing state in the country, with more than 4,500 acres of vineyards producing nearly 3 million gallons of wine each year. In fact, winemaking in Texas was happening before wine was even introduced to California! Today, Texas has eight American Viticultural Areas (AVA) that produce a wide range of grapes; the Texoma AVA on the Oklahoma-Texas border is where American viticulturalists developed vital disease-resistant grapes that saves the wine industry in the United States!
Grapevine has been at the center of the region’s wine culture for over 25 years, and the city currently has roughly a dozen active wineries and tasting rooms within its limits. Most are clustered in the Historic District near our luxury apartments in Grapevine, but a few sit further out and offer a completely different kind of experience.
Here's what you'll find!
Grapevine’s best tasting rooms & wineries
Wineries in Grapevine
These spots produce wine on-site, so you're tasting where the work actually happens!
Cross Timbers Winery
Cross Timbers is set in one of Grapevine's oldest properties and feels like a totally different world from the Main Street tasting rooms. The historic Brock Family farmhouse and grounds include large shade trees, a gazebo and a restored red barn that doubles as an event venue for weddings and private parties, so keep this in mind if you’re looking for an event . The winery produces its own Texas reds and whites and also carries selections from Northern Mexico. You can buy wine by the glass, bottle or case. Live music is common on weekends, and the outdoor seating under the old pecan and oak trees makes it a great spot to settle in for a while. Open
Grape Vine Springs Winery
Established in 2004, Grape Vine Springs is the second-oldest winery in Grapevine with a laid-back feel and a surprisingly wide range of wines: dry reds, dry whites, semi-sweet fruit wines in ten flavors and dessert ports, many of which have won awards in national and international competitions! Popular picks here include the Rodeo Red, Almond Sparkling and their wine slushies, so definitely give those a try when you go!
Beyond tastings, they also offer wine blending classes where you can custom-design your own blends! Their Night Watchman ghost tour is a unique add-on, too, where you explore downtown Grapevine's history after dark and finish with a complimentary glass of wine.
Red Dirt Cellars
Red Dirt Cellars is one of the newer names on Grapevine's wine scene, but the team behind it brings plenty of experience! The winery is owned by the same people behind Landon Winery and is led by their expert winemakers, though it operates as a separate concept with its own identity and wine labels like Red Dirt Cellars, Pinnacle and Wildcatter.
The space next to Grape Vine Springs Winery was formerly home to Sloan & Williams Winery, and since the rebrand in mid-2025, the location has been refreshed with new paint, furniture and an updated feel. Wines are made from grapes grown in the Texas High Plains and Hill Country as well as California, and the tasting room offers flights, wines by the glass and bottles to take home. The food menu includes small bites, charcuterie boards, flatbreads and tapas, and the winery hosts live music and weekly events like trivia nights and Thirsty Thursdays with discounted bottles. Private event rentals are also available for weddings, corporate gatherings and celebrations!
Wine Fusion Winery
Located just one block from the Grapevine Vintage Railroad station, Wine Fusion stands out because it's the only winery in Grapevine that also functions as a full-service restaurant with a scratch kitchen! They produce about 20 wines in-house but also carry over 200 wines from around the world, with more than 80 wines available by the glass (plus a selection of craft beers and a full spirits bar). The food menu is pretty legit, with items like salmon tacos, an Angus burger and cheese boards. They also offer private wine blending classes that are popular for team building and group events! The vibe is modern and lively, a departure from the more rustic tasting-room feel you'll find at other Grapevine spots.
Tasting Rooms in Grapevine
These are satellite locations for wineries that produce their wines elsewhere but bring them to Grapevine for you to try! Bonus points for being just minutes from our apartments near DFW airport!
Bingham Family Vineyards
Bingham Family Vineyards grows and produces all of its wines on its estate vineyard in the Texas High Plains AVA near Lubbock, an AVA that produces a whopping 85% of the state’s grapes!
Their Grapevine tasting room, located next to the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Clock Tower, brings those 100% Texas estate-grown wines to the DFW area. The tasting experience here is notably personalized, too, since you get a reserved table and a tailored selection of wines with full education on the history behind each pour. Multiple flight options are available, and if you’re interested in delving deeper into the nuts and bolts of viticulture, then the staff is consistently praised as knowledgeable and attentive.
Bull Lion Winery
Bull Lion specializes in old-world Italian varietals made with 100% Texas-grown grapes — think Sangiovese, Super Tuscan, Trebbiano and a skin-contact style called the Texican. The tasting room is tucked just off Main Street on College Street, and the entrance is a little hidden, which adds to its charm and gives it a genuine hidden-gem quality. Inside, there's a lounge area (the "Rat Room") with couches, board games and a TV for catching games!
Landon Winery
Landon is one of the most recognized wine brands in the DFW area, with multiple locations across North Texas!
Their Grapevine tasting room is a staple on the Urban Wine Trail, known for being approachable to both curious newcomers and experienced wine drinkers. Popular wines include The Texan (a bold red), the Red Rose and their Peach wine, while their food menu features charcuterie boards and a well-regarded grilled cheese that pairs perfectly with their pours. There's also a back patio and regular live entertainment, and dedicated wine club members enjoy regular pickup parties that double as social events.
Messina Hof Grapevine Winery
If you’re at all familiar with Texas wine, you’ll already know that Messina Hof is a household name in Texas wine, with its flagship estate located in Bryan, TX.
The Grapevine location, housed in the historic Wallis Hotel building, is their first urban winery and features multiple tasting areas, a wine bar, retail shop and event spaces. More than 40 wines are available, including exclusive selections you won't find at other Messina Hof locations. Favorites include the Tempranillo, Riesling, Almond Sparkling, Mama Rosa and the GSM Blend.
If you’re seriously interested in your viticulture, then make a point to gain membership in their Gold wine club, which includes a glass of wine daily for a year. They also host private events, including murder mystery dinner nights!
Winestein's Tasting Room
Winestein's is a newer arrival on the Grapevine wine scene and it has already made a heck of an impression! Unlike most of its neighbors, Winestein's focuses on international wines rather than Texas-only selections, offering a curated rotation of bottles from around the world. Owners Michael and Maranda have built a neighborhood wine-bar atmosphere where regulars feel like family, and their monthly wine club pickup parties feature a dozen different wines, each with a story behind it.
Wine events & experiences
Beyond the individual tasting rooms, Grapevine offers several organized wine experiences worth noting.
- GrapeFest, held each September, is one of the largest wine festivals in the Southwest and features tastings, competitions, live entertainment and grape stomping — tickets tend to sell out early.
- The Spring Wine Trail is an annual event that takes visitors across the Urban Wine Trail tasting rooms.
- Wine Tours of Grapevine runs guided shuttle tours on Saturdays (or by appointment) that visit multiple wineries with a local guide.
- Grapevine Food, Wine & History Tours offer walking tours that combine tastings, food and local history along Main Street.
Whether you're looking for a casual afternoon glass on a shady patio, a full wine-and-dinner experience or a deep dive into Texas winemaking, Grapevine has more options than most people expect from a North Texas suburb around our Dallas apartments. The Urban Wine Trail makes it easy to visit several spots in a single outing, and the range of styles — from rustic farmhouse wineries to modern wine bars to Italian-inspired tasting rooms — means there's genuinely something for every taste.
Enjoy!
