A brand-new festival is making waves on the eastern shores of Dallas’ White Rock Lake. At long last, a conduit through which independent artists in Dallas can gain the exposure they are looking for.
The Dallas Indie Festival will be held at the historic Bath House Cultural Center June 19 to 22. You can expect the following at the highly-anticipated four-day event…
Fresh Music
If you’re looking for some quality beats from artists you may or may not have heard of, you’ll find just that at the Dallas Indie Festival. Budding musicians from all genres will take the stage to entertain spectators as they browse artisans’ wares and soak in the aesthetically pleasing backdrop of the Bath House Cultural Center and White Rock Lake.
Stellar Street Food
A little-known food truck that churns out exceptionally tasty cuisine is, in many ways, like an undiscovered musical artist. Fans harbor pride in their discovery of a new, underrated food truck and, while wishing the talented vendor great success, hope the food truck never sells out or becomes too popular. At a festival all about supporting the arts, there is plenty of appreciative capacity for culinary artists to whip up their most celebrated creations in trucks or stalls. You’ll almost certainly find fine street grub made by an establishment you have never heard of. You can also find food made by some of Dallas’s most beloved culinary street artists.
Enticing Indie Films
The independent Dallas filmmaking community has been especially responsive to calls for entry to the inaugural Dallas Indie Festival. Over the span of the four-day festival, dozens of documentaries, shorts, and feature-length films produced independently will be screened. The historic Bath House Theater, designed in the Art-Deco style that flourished in the prosperous and roaring 1920s, will serve as the backdrop for many of these screenings. Some films will make their debuts in the open air, on the Bath House Cultural Center lawn.
Decorative Arts
In some aspects, the Dallas Indie Festival will feel like a classic street fair or weekend artisan market. Jewelry makers, woodworkers, painters, sculptors, and other artisans will spread their wares across tables and wall panels, inviting spectators to take a closer look and make smart new handcrafted purchases unique to their home decor. For those interested in learning more about the arts themselves, interactive events, such as Paint Nite on June 21,will be hosted by master artisans as part of the festival.
