Glendale, Calif. is a great place to live if you want to be near the action and excitement of downtown Los Angeles without having to live right in the middle of it. The city is a fascinating place with many accolades and a long history of being popular among celebrities, but Glendale is viewed as an especially attractive living option right now for a number of reasons.
Livable Environment
Downtown Glendale has recently been reinvigorated and is constantly being improved. In addition to nice weather and beautiful mountain vistas, residents enjoy access to high-performing educational institutions and healthcare facilities. In response to demand for more and better housing, a number of contractors and property management firms have embarked on residential construction projects that will further revitalize the city. Not to toot our own horn or anything, but one of the luxury apartment projects well underway and already leasing is AMLI Lex on Orange, which was featured earlier this year in the Glendale News Press as one of the most highly anticipated residential development projects underway.
Proximity to L.A.’s Hot Spots
Los Angeles is a city that people around the world are familiar with. Every year, millions of tourists from as near as San Diego and as far as Mumbai visit to get a glimpse of the stars. All this buzz and energy means the area has some of the most spectacular attractions, sources of entertainment, and hangouts. Glendale is minutes away from the I-5, SR-2, and CA-134, which means when traffic is in your favor, you can get from downtown Glendale to the heart of Los Angeles in roughly 20 minutes. However, in 2013 L.A. traffic took the number one spot for the worst traffic in the United States according to a national scorecard from traffic information firm INRIX. Glendale is sounding better and better!
Cultural, Culinary, and Retail Offerings
While there is world-class shopping and dining options for which Los Angeles is praised, Glendale has plenty of worthy offerings in its own right. Glendale Galleria and The Americana at Brand boast dozens of shops that are recognized for the quality and ingenuity of their products. They are also home to widely loved restaurant chains representing a range of food types and catering to various budgets. A number of upscale restaurants and cult dining dives associated most closely with the world-famous chefs that created them, such as the anxiously awaited Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak, are also on offer.
Close to the City of Angels but far less congested, Glendale provides its residents with a number of benefits. From better housing prices to smoother traffic, Glendale’s advantages over Los Angeles make it a more livable place for many.
