Jan 15th, 2024

If you’ve been in Austin for any amount of time — short or long — you’ve surely noticed the amazing food, drinks and culture the town has to offer. Especially when it comes to craft drinks!

Austin is already known for its craft drink scene, especially when it comes to craft beer. Now that ciders are getting more and more popular, it’s no surprise that Austin’s developed its own cidery gems.

Whether you’re looking to try something new and mix it up or you’re searching for your new “home” cider house, these cideries are worth checking out!

4 great cideries around Austin

Austin Eastciders Collaboratory

Neighborhood: East Austin

Location: 979 Springdale Road, Suite 130

Specialties: Imperial Tropical Punch, Imperial Mosaic, Imperial Gold

In 2013 the first cider, Gold Top, was brewed and the dream of a cider house came alive. Owners Ed and Mark keep creating new and exciting ciders using only the best ingredients available. They use real Texas honey, real hop flowers, and real pineapple and blood orange juice. Their process begins with pressing bittersweet apples to make cider apple juice. Fresh pressed means the flavors are well preserved and keeps preservatives out of the process. White wine yeast is used to bring out the sparkly and effervescent qualities their ciders are best known for and why they are more like sparkling white wine instead of sugary apple juice. Check out one of their many award winning ciders on your next visit!

Fairweather Cider Co.

Neighborhood: North Austin

Location: 10609 Metric Blvd., #108

Specialties: Common (classic dry cider), Smell the Van (dry cider infused with spent gin botanicals), Cydersport (grapefruit cider with electrolytes)

Fairweather Cider has a little something for everyone. First off, their cider menu boasts unique flavors, many with tropical or spicy twists. The rotating frozen ciders are always a hit. In addition to their delicious ciders, they also offer beer and coffee served through the afternoon. You’ll find a tasty food truck on site and fun trivia once a week. You can rent the private Karaoke Room for you and your friends to sing and dance the night away. Stop by for Happy Hour every day from 4-6pm!

Texas Keeper Cider

Neighborhood: 10 min drive from South Austin

Location: 12521 Twin Creeks Road; Manchaca, TX 78652

Specialties: no. 1(dry), Gold Rush (dry), Cider Noir (barrel-aged stout cider)

Just a short drive outside Austin proper you will find yourself on a beautiful 19 acre old hill country ranch. This beautiful scenery is home to the creation and brewing of Texas Keeper Cider. The tasty cider menu includes classics such as the flagship cider, no. 1, and other uniquely flavored ciders to tantalize your taste buds. You can enjoy guided or self-guided tastings, a cider cocktail, or select a NA beverage to enjoy before heading home. The locally and seasonally focused menu allows you to build a picnic to enjoy with any of the tasty beverages. After you fall in love with these ciders, consider checking out the Good Cider Club to enjoy ciders all year long.

Moontower Cider Company
