This year, AMLI is tapping into green energy in a big way. All common areas in AMLI’s Houston and Dallas-area communities will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy. And by the end of fall, four Dallas-area communities will have rooftop solar panels.
Communities receiving solar panels are:
- AMLI Campion Trail in Irving.
- AMLI West Plano in Plano.
- AMLI Frisco Crossing in Frisco.
- AMLI at the Ballpark in Frisco.
These rooftop solar panel arrays vary in size, but promise to supply up 20 percent of each community’s energy needs in their amenity and common areas. AMLI Campion Trail and AMLI West Plano already have their solar panels up-and-running. AMLI Frisco Crossing is up next for completion, followed by its neighboring community, AMLI at the Ballpark.
Once completed, the solar panel arrays at these four communities will offset 750,000 pounds of carbon dioxide annually, the equivalent of 687 households turning off their lights for an entire year or recycling 2,424,000 aluminum cans.
We’ve also made the switch to solar and wind power at all our Dallas and Houston communities, courtesy a partnership with energy provider Green Mountain Energy. As of early 2018, all amenity and common spaces our Houston and Dallas residents share have been powered by renewable energy—and will be for the foreseeable future.
This is huge news—not just for AMLI, but for the local neighborhoods we’re located as well. Our shift toward renewables alone will save the planet from 20 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions every year. That has the same effect as cars driving 24 million fewer miles or recycling 18 million newspapers.
Are you an AMLI resident? Find out how to switch to green energy in your home.
The best part is AMLI residents can help make these numbers even bigger. Green Mountain and AMLI have partnered to make it easier for residents to make the switch to renewable energy in their homes. Follow the link above to do so.
If you’re not (yet!) an AMLI resident, join us in our green mission and jump-start your green lifestyle by moving in. Check out our apartments in Dallas and apartments in Houston.
AMLI is committed to helping its residents live greener lifestyles. Since 2008, AMLI has committed to having all its newly constructed communities LEED certified. We now have 29 LEED-certified apartment communities and have been rigorously going after ENERGY STAR certifications as well. As of this writing, AMLI has 22 ENERGY STAR-certified communities.
Other sustainability initiatives AMLI takes on includes diverting construction waste from local landfills, using low- and no-VOC-emitting building materials, ensuring clean air filtration, and providing ready access to electric car charging stations, public transit, and bicycle storage and repair.
Aside from our efforts to reduce our environmental impact, apartment living is simply a greener life choice. Read more on this in AMLI’s Green Manifesto.
