Throughout much of the country, breakfast burritos are a weekend morning favorite for Mexican food lovers. In Austin, it’s breakfast tacos that are all the rage. Republic of Sandwich
Go to Republic of Sandwich for lunch or dinner, and you’re probably going to get a sandwich. Go for breakfast, and your choices are basically bagels and tacos. The menu features no less than eight breakfast tacos, each featuring a carefully selected mix of tasty ingredients. If you’re up to deviate from the standard Tex-Mex breakfast taco, try the Republic (egg, roasted pork, potato, kimchi, cheddar) or Green Eggs and Ham (egg, herb pesto, ham, Swiss cheese).
Taco Flats
On the opposite end of the choice spectrum, Taco Flats has only one breakfast taco to choose from. But it pairs well with the pozole and signature cocktails Taco Flats serves up at its weekend brunch. Check them out between 11am and 3pm on a Saturday or Sunday to see whether Taco Flats’ laid-back vibe is right for you.
Tacodeli
Tacodeli’s ten signature breakfast tacos include everything from the Freakin’ Vegan with black beans, avocado, and pico de gallo to the El Popeye stuffed with scrambled eggs, spinach, and queso fresco. Tacodeli also has a popular build-your-own option, with breakfast tacos starting at just .95.
Taqueria Guadalajara Arandas
Taqueria Guadalajara specializes in affordable, quality Tex-Mex. They’ve got the standard breakfast taco fillings for mixing and matching: egg, cheese, potato, bacon, chorizo, and onion. This taqueria is one place you can get breakfast tacos all day long. The best part—they’re half-price after 11am.
Torchy’s Tacos
Torchy’s is another place where you can enjoy breakfast tacos all day long. And they’ve several flavorful combinations to choose from. Torchy’s has grown from a single shop in 2006 to more than 30 shops and a truck in 2016.
